The cycling section of the Swaledale Outdoor Club organises a variety of rides to suit most abilities. The pace is mainly moderate, however, some of the rides pass over the steep moor land roads of the North Yorkshire Moors, Yorkshire Dales and Northern Pennines. Rides are mainly attended by riders from the Northern half of North Yorkshire, Cleveland, and County Durham. To cover such a wide geographical area we use different locations. Whatever the location a group of 3 or 4 usually set off from Northallerton, often very early, making the official ride start their first coffee break and resulting in rides up to 130 miles. The first distance shown is the return trip to Northallerton, the second covers the circular route from the official start.

The Swaledale Outdoor Club also organises a variety of other activities including mountain biking, caving, canoeing, climbing, orienteering, skiing and walking
